The Strangest Reasons PL Games Have Been Postponed
History has seen Premier League games get called off for a variety of reasons. Here are three of the more bizarre reasons matches have been called off. Old Trafford Bomb Scare Manchester United’s final game of the 2015/16 season was postponed due to a bomb scare. The stadium was evacuated, with a bomb squad called in to inspect a suspicious package in one of the stadium’s toilets. The suspicious item was a dummy device left behind from a training exercise that had taken place a few days before. The Flu Middlesbrough were forced to cancel their match against Blackburn during the 1996/97 season due to players falling ill with the flu. The game was called off at short notice due to manager Bryan Robson not having 16 fit players able to play the match. Middlesbrough were deducted three points due to not providing enough notice, a penalty which would see them get relegated. A White Christmas Several Premier League games were postponed in the days leading up to Christmas 2010 due to heavy snow. The conditions were so poor that only three games went ahead that week.
