Texas University Offering Class On Taylor Swift's Songwriting
Students at the University of Texas At Austin (UTA) will be able to take a class called The Taylor Swift Songbook this fall. The course will use Swift’s songs to “introduce literary critical reading and research methods". The course will “consider frameworks for understanding her work” like history, style and poetic form. Students taking the class will study Swift’s album Red (Taylor’s Version), as well as Folklore, Evermore and Lover. This comes after New York University (NYU) also recently offered its student a course about Swift. Earlier this year the All Too Well singer received an honorary doctor of fine arts from NYU. During her speech, she told graduates that they need to “learn to live alongside cringe”.
