Jennette McCurdy Says She Was "Exploited" On Nickelodeon
In her new memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette McCurdy detailed how she was “exploited” during her time starring in Nickelodeon tv shows. McCurdy, who starred in iCarly and Sam & Cat, revealed that her “whole childhood and adolescence was very exploited”. In the book, she described an incident where she was “photographed in a bikini at a wardrobe fitting” and “encouraged to drink alcohol”. The former actress revealed that her mom was present for some of these incidents but didn’t intervene as she believed it was part of the job. McCurdy claims that Nickelodeon failed to keep its promise of giving her a spin-off series after iCarly. She also said that after Sam & Cat was canceled Nickelodeon offered her $300,000 to keep her experiences on the shows private but she declined.
