Amber Heard Trial Had One Of "Worst Cases Of Cyberbullying" Ever
A report found that Amber Heard was subjected to “one of the worst cases of cyberbullying” ever during her defamation trial against Johnny Depp. Bob Sentinel, a company that studies disinformation campaigns and online harassment, analyzed over 14,000 tweets. There were 627 accounts dedicated to tweeting about Heard and her fans. Over 24% of them were created in the last seven months but the average for other topics is 8.6%. Some social media users started using the hashtag #AmberHeardLsALiar to manipulate hashtag trends and “deceive Twitter’s algorithms”. Heard and those who voiced support for her during the trial were “attacked relentlessly” with “vulgar and threatening language”. What we observed was one of the worst cases of cyberbullying and cyberstalking by a group of Twitter accounts that we've ever seen, Bot Sentinel. The company claims that Twitter “did very little to stop the abuse and targeted harassment”.
