Sony is being sued by Illinois resident Christina Trejo for allegedly hiding a major defect in the company’s PS5 console. Trejo claims that Sony hid the fact that some of its PS5 consoles can shut down suddenly while a user is playing a game. This issue often leads to a loss of progress within the game the user is playing at the time. The gamer believes that Sony knew about the issues through “warranty repair requests and online consumer complaints”. The console defect affects users’ ability to play video games and compromises the primary function and overall usage of the PS5, Christina Trejo states in the lawsuit. Trejo is suing the company for consumer law violations, breach of warranty and unjust enrichment. According to the lawsuit, Trejo is seeking a jury trial and damages.
